Ballistic Curves

This guide is intended to provide a detailed explanation of Ballistic Curves and its benefits for players who use a mouse and keyboard on video game consoles.

Essentially, a Ballistic Curve determines how sensitive the aim reticle is to the movement of the mouse, which can help to improve precision and aiming experience when playing on a video game console with a mouse and keyboard.

🧮 THE MATH

The mathematical function that is used to create a Ballistic Curve is known as an "acceleration curve". This curve is used to adjust the sensitivity of the aim reticle to the movement of the mouse, so that players can fine-tune the way their cursor or aim reticle moves in the game to better match their playstyle or preferences.



The acceleration curve maps the input values (mouse movement) to the output values (aim reticle movement) in a non-linear way. This means that small movements of the mouse result in small movements of the aim reticle, while larger movements of the mouse result in larger movements of the aim reticle.

Additionally, some games offer different curves for different types of weapons, or for different types of movement (e.g., ADS vs. HIP). Players can also choose to create their own custom curves in Zen Studio or choose from a list of professionally made MK profiles, available here: Importing MK Profiles.
