Mouse & Keyboard
With over 12 years of experience in MK emulation for console gaming, I've summarized everything you need to know about using a mouse and keyboard on a games console, with the Cronus Zen.
This guide ensures accuracy and practical insights based on extensive personal experience.

- Onboard Memory: This allows you to save your DPI and Response Rate directly on the mouse, ensuring consistent settings even when connected to different devices, like the Cronus Zen.
- Dots per Inch (DPI): Measures mouse sensitivity. Higher DPI means faster cursor movement with less physical movement. Lower DPI offers slower, more precise control.
- Response Rate: Check the VIP Guide for detailed information.
- Consistency: Without onboard memory, these settings reset when you connect your mouse to the Zen, affecting performance.
- Recommended DPI: At least 10,000 DPI for the best performance.
- Recommended Polling Rate: 250Hz for the smoothest experience across all platforms. Higher rates can increase jitter and decrease aim assist, while lower rates do the opposite.
- General Advice: Any default keyboard will work, but investing in a good mouse is more critical for performance.
- Top Choices:
- Razer V2 and V3 PRO
- Razer Ultimate, DeathAdder V3
- Logitech GPRO and GPRO Superlight 1/2
- Using a BEAM Profile: Provides the best emulation available, though performance can vary by game.
- Game Dependency: Games like COD offer better emulation than others like HALO due to differences in in-game speed caps and aim mechanics.
- Smooth Experience: 250Hz offers the smoothest gameplay experience.
- Higher Polling Rate: More responsive but more jittery movements and less aim assist.
- Lower Polling Rate: Less responsive, less jitter, and more aim assist.
- Jitter: High response rates can cause jittery aim, which can be countered using smoothing in Zen Studio (though not recommended).
- Aim Assist Impact:
- Higher Response Rate: Breaks aim assist bubble faster, providing better compatibility but less power.
- Lower Response Rate: Harder to get on target but provides the most aim assist.
- Solution: Use Aim Assist Booster MK for optimal aim assist with low response rates.
- Importance: A good mousepad ensures proper sensor reading and overall performance.
- S-Tier: Artisan, Zowie
- A-Tier: SteelSeries, Razer, Logitech
- B-Tier: Nyfpad
- C-Tier: Hama, LogiLink
- Avoid: Brand-free or unknown brands
- Top Choices: Razer Atlas and SkyPad provide excellent tracking and performance with Zen and MK emulation. However, their speed may weaken aim assist.
- Additional Tip: Use a Gaming Sleeve for better control, especially on fast surfaces.
- SkyPad Gaming Sleeve
- Pulsar Gaming Sleeve
- On Glass Pads: Your skin can stop your movements, making it unplayable without a sleeve.
- On Soft/Hard Pads: Reduces friction and makes small movements more precise.
- Aim Assist Bubble: An invisible bubble around the enemy where in-game aim assist is activated. Once your crosshair is inside this bubble, aim assist becomes active.
- Emulation Challenges: Emulating MK can cause trouble entering the aim assist bubble, a common issue across all emulation devices. However, with the Aim Assist Booster MK edition from Cronus, this problem is significantly reduced sometimes completely eliminated.
