Windows® PC
Yes, Cronus Zen can be used on PC, but we cannot officially offer any support for it.
While we do offer guidance on setting up Zen to game on a Windows® PC, it's essential to know our primary development focus is on consoles, such as the PS5®, Xbox® Series X|S, and Nintendo® Switch. Why? Due to the diverse range of motherboards in PCs, Zen can behave differently across computer specifications.
A recent example was the AMD AGESA V2 bios causing USB ports to randomly disconnect. Many users returned their Zen devices thinking they were faulty, only to discover the issue lay with the motherboard. These types of issues can consume significant resources, detracting from our primary console support.
Furthermore, some PC games now detect and may block or penalize the use of third-party devices like ours. It's always in your best interest to read the EULA before using any third-party devices.
We will assume your Zen is updated to using Zen Studio .
If not, here's what to do:
Once you're updated, connect both the CONSOLE/PC and PROG USB cables to your Zen and PC. The PROG cable syncs the Cronus Zen with Zen Studio for settings, library, scripts, GamePacks, and so on. Meanwhile, the CONSOLE/PC cable manages the controller signals.
Once everything is hooked up and your Cronus Zen is detected by Zen Studio, you're ready to setup your controller. 👍
PC CONTROLLERS
Cronus Zen only supports licensed controllers designed for consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch/Wii). It does not support non-licensed controllers or any controller that is designed only for PC use such as the Scuf Envision Pro.
Set up an Xbox® controller and connect to a PC, or any Zen-supported platform in minutes.
Plug the controller into A1 and turn it on.
Open Zen Studio . Go to the Device panel and set the Output Protocol to 'AUTO'. If everything's detected, you'll see the joypad and console icons light up.
Hit F3 to launch the device monitor. Test out your controller buttons and see if Zen Studio picks up the outputs right.
🚫 Important: Unplug the PROG USB cable from the Zen. 👈
Tap Zen's reset button. After a few seconds, the RGB LEDs should glow solid GREEN. If it doesn't, unplug the CONSOLE/PC USB, wait a few seconds, plug it back in. That should do the trick.
Visit gamepad-tester.com to see if Windows® is picking up your controller correctly. Once confirmed, enjoy gaming on a Windows® PC with your Xbox® controller, or plug the CONSOLE/PC USB directly into an Xbox® Series X|S or Xbox® One console.
Crossover Magic: With Cronus Zen, your Xbox® controller isn't just for PC and Xbox® anymore! You can plug it into PlayStation® or Nintendo® Switch consoles too. Just change the Xbox® controller to A3, and depending on the console you're hooking up to, connect a PlayStation® or Nintendo® Switch controller to A1.
